Characters

Jonathon: Jonathon is a boy who lives in Anchorage and loves the zoo. His favorite animal in the zoo was Mama Goose, who gets eaten by Trouble. He lived in Duluth untill he and his dad moved to Anchorage. He left his mom and his little sister Rhonda in the mix. While in Anchorage he meets up with a brown bear on his deck. Jonathon is very lucky because the bear doesn't strike or hurt him at all. He gets in quite a bit of trouble himself in this story. Jonathon is the main character in this book.Jonathon sometimes gives Momma Goose popcorn when he knows he's not supposed to. Jonathon is devistated when he sees Mama Goose die right in front of him.

Rhonda: Rhonda is Jonathon’s little sister. Rhonda was born with a condition that has her in a wheelchair all the time. Rhonda still lives in Duluth with her and Jonathon’s mother. She couldn’t wait until she was reunited with her brother and dad in Anchorage, Alaska in two months. Rhonda loved animals almost as much as Jonathon did. She loved Mama Goose almost as much as Jonathon because of the stories Jonathon told her. Rhonda is an important character in this book because she had always wanted to see Mama Goose. Jonathon was mad at Trouble because she had really wanted to see Mama Goose and now she couldn't. It would have made her very happy. She stayed back home with her mother.

Mama Goose: Mama Goose is a favorite animal to little kids at the Anchorage Zoo. She is very lively and obviously, she is a goose. She will honk back at you if you honk and loves corn. Mama Goose is a great character in this book. The person that visits her the most is obviously Jonathon. She was killed by the bear and
jonathon was just devistated. jonathon used to feed mama gioose popcorn. He would make popcorn trails for her to eat. When she died they found out that she was actually a he.
Trouble: Trouble is a young, baby bear that lives in the forest around Anchorage After his beloved mother abandons him he goes out into the world alone. He doesn't get that to survive he needs to fend for himself and why his mom kicked him out. One night after getting kicked in the jaw by a moose, he ventures into town and meets a boy.Johnathon , in search of the bear, he put a loaf of bread on the porch. He breaks into the Anchorage Zoo and causes all kinds of trouble. For example he kills Mama Goose. Trouble is one of the main characters in the book A Bear Named Trouble. Find out more about what Trouble gets into.

Trouble got his name for a reason. He keeps digging a hole under the zoo fence and climbing under it to be with Jake, the zoo’s brown bear. One night Jonathon follows him to the zoo. Momma Goose honks her head off until Trouble (who is not named that yet) swipes at her and accidentally kills her. So after that they began to call him Trouble.

Setting

The setting of this story is Anchorage, Alaska. The story mostly takes place at the Anchorage Zoo. There are some parts in the forest and at Jonathon's House. One of the chapters they were in Duluth and at the Duluth Zoo.

Problem

The problem in the book A Bear Named Trouble was that trouble killed Jonathan's favorite animal Mama Goose! So Jonathon sets out to get revenge on trouble for killing Mama goose!

Point of View

The Author is the person telling the story. You know this because he states all of the names and never says anything like "I set the bread on the porch." he says "Jonathon set the bread on the porch." So you know that the author is telling the story. The author is also being really creative about all that has happend to the main characters.

Plot

Jonathan is outside one day when a brown bear approaches him. The next day he brings a loaf of bread with him and follows the brown bear and watches it kill his favorite animal at the zoo, which is Mama Goose. He is determined to get revenge on the bear, which he names Trouble, but he later realizes that he doesn’t want Trouble to be killed. The boy also realizes that Trouble is really a nice and kind bear and he wouldn't want to kill a bear even if it killed Mama Goose . If I was the boy I would have talked to my dad about not hurting it and keeping it in captive.

Climax

I think the climax of this story is when Trouble killed Mama Goose and Jonathan secretly wanted revenge on the bear for killing his favorite animal on the farm. He was also going to adopt the goose for his sister, so he must have been really mad when Trouble killed her.

Resolution

The problem was resolved when they sent Trouble, the bear, to Duluth to live. There is also a zoo at Duluth, so he was tranported to there, because they didn't want him at the Anchorage Zoo.

Author's Message

The lesson of this story is to do what you need to do not what you have to do.
